A little love note to encourage you…
Worry, anxiety, and such is using your imagination and creativity to hurt yourself. It’s really like bullying yourself.
Y’see when you’re imagining all the things that could go wrong, when you’re looping in your thoughts about things that create painful feelings, when you’re in a cycle of dwelling- you’re putting your mind and nervous system through trauma. It’s like living a thousand traumatic events in a day. Regardless if it’s using your imagination to review something traumatic that has happened to you in the past, or fearing the possibility of something happening to you in the future.
Either way, instead of living something one time or maybe never if it’s a future worry, you put yourself through it over and over and over again….. even though it only happened 0-1 times (for example). You’re teaching yourself to live in unnecessary suffering.
You have an active mind and a reactive body so if you’ve been thinking that scary thing even for a brief moment, it has been scaring you!
On top of that, you’re actually teaching your unconscious mind that this stressor is happening to you over and over and over which greatly affects your reality and experience of life.
But you can use your imagination, your thoughts, emotions, and images in the mind to create experiences of joy, peace, okay-ness, goodness, and so on with the exact same muscle that you used to imagine all of what could go wrong.
Try flipping the question you’re trying to answer in your imagination and creativity.
Flip: What could go wrong? to What could go right?
Instead of viewing every possible outcome that could go wrong, try viewing every possible outcome that could go right!
Shift from problem oriented to solution oriented in the mind.
Shift from a doom sentence to unlimited possibilities for solutions and blessings. And see how your reality and quality of life shifts to mirror this!
